well spoken, I feel like I probably could’ve fixed these issues with the vehicle suggestions a fair bit sooner, but I just kinda left it alone thinking that the problem would fix itself (in a way you could say I was laissez faire about the whole thing)
now obviously, modding a lot of suggestions has taken a bit of a toll on me (moreso now because I’ve gotten into summer school, and I’m more busy than I would like to be with homework sometimes), but at some point you just get complacent with some of the shit that happens that you don’t even bat an eye to whatever happens, which in hindsight was a big mistake, as it allowed a lot of stuff to get out of hand
this forum (or more specifically the vehicle suggestions category) shouldn’t have been treated as a place where you got to boast over others because of your achievements, it’s just a place to put whatever cars that you really want ingame, and I think that people have started to get the wrong idea into their heads that suggestions should be made to boost a number on your profile, not for cars that you genuinely want to see ingame, and this has caused a fair amount of damage in the category that I had not recognized until recently
I’ve started to understand the frustration of others and their suggestions, I still think that people have the right to suggest whatever they want, but now I think that this should only be done within proper reason, obviously you aren’t going to get a drivable 2x4 wood plank with zero engine ingame, but at the same time, it’s entirely possible for some crazy ass bosozoku build ingame, there’s a lot of ambiguity of what’s possible, or what isn’t, and I think this has allowed some things to get a lot more rowdy than what was the norm back then
new users can be a bit chaotic at times, there’s no denying that, but it’s also the new users that tend to break the norm and start to open up the eyes of others that there’s a lot more things that you can really do, and it’s these people that make me realize how some of this forum’s guidelines were only really meant for the community at the time, and what was really the norm of the time
these new users could be considered as the people who started to get a lot more crazy with vehicle suggestions, euph and DatDudePlays were the two people who went ham with these suggestions, and it all started off fine, until it wasn’t…
it started to get to a point where things weren’t being suggested because people wanted to see these new interesting cars ingame, but just to inflate profiles which started a shift towards quantity over quality, which is something you definitely don’t want to see clogging up vehicle suggestions, and it wasn’t until recently that we started to take action to this until more people than it should’ve been started complaining about the lack of guidelines for vehicle suggestions, and from that point, it’s just been what it is right now
I have to emphasize that while this really isn’t anybody’s fault as people have their own self-interests to what they think suggestions really are meant for, there still should’ve been action taken against this, while I’m not going to speak for the other mods in this case (and honestly I really am one of the worst people to be representing the mods considering some of the stupid shit I’ve done in the past), suggestions should never come at the cost of somebody else’s browsing experience, which like I said, is something that I’ve failed to realize until recently, and it’s something that’s kind of opened my eyes over this whole situation
now I’m not going to spend all of this time over vehicle suggestions, as there’s also the fact about behavior on the forums that I need to cover
there’s a whole lot of talk about opinions, whether it’s on cars that people suggest, the people here, or whatever may be discussed, it’s starting to become a bit of a battlefield of insults towards others simply because of disagreements, and it’s starting to get a bit ridiculous and petty
now obviously, all of us are mindful enough about our word usage to keep things neutral and for the most part, everything is pretty civil until it isn’t
under no circumstances should anybody be insulted for an opinion they share or reply to, that’s just a basic lack of respect for whatever somebody wants to share to others, and I think that some people have gotten a bit too comfortable about talking shit about others, which obviously means I’m going to be more stringent about how people are talking and being civil in the first place
I’m not going to talk about this whole thing too much further considering this is one of the longest pieces of text that I’ve typed out on the forums, but just to sum it all up (or as a TL:DR for those who just want to get straight to the point without explanation), some people get a bit too far off the rails when it comes to suggesting things within proper reason (and without clogging up the suggestions), and some people need to stop shit talking opinions, other people, or anything up for debate
I hope this does give a bit more insight to what I’m thinking about the forums at the moment, and I hope that this doesn’t come off as too confusing considering I’m typing this during my summer school class lol
