the start of something great
History
The year was 1994, and the NSX was a runaway success. Compared to its main competitors, the Ferrari 348, Porsche 911 993, and Lotus Esprit V8 TT, it was a much more reliable and better handling car than the rest. However, some people wondered whether it would beat those same cars on the track. That year, Kunimitsu Racing took 2 NSX-R chassis right off the production line, and extensively modified the C30A engine with a dry sump oil system, a ton of bodywork, and for the GT2 car, a specialized carbon fibre intake system. That year, Honda sent 3 Kremer Racing GT2s, with #47 being helped with by Kunimitsu Racing. Unfortuately, the GT2s scored a somewhat disappointing 14th, 16th, 18th. For the next year, Honda officially decided to enter for the 1995 24 Hours of Le mans, entering in two GT1 cars and a single GT2 car was entered in by Kunimitsu once again. When they went to Le Mans that year, the GT1 cars both got disqualified, the #46 car due to not covering enough distance and the #47βs gearbox deciding to blow up. However, the single '95 #84 Kunimitsu GT2 car took 1st for the GT2 class and 8th overall, with the other class winners being the Kokusai F1 GTR, 1995 Courage C35, and Debora LMP295, marking the first ever motorsport win for the NSX.
