that one mercedes clk gtr testbed
History
so back in 1995, Franck Muller Racing ordered another F1 GTR, after the team’s win at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. Finished the year after, it first raced in the BPR Global GT series, placing a somewhat miserable 11th. When it got to race in the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, it blew its engine, putting #53 out of the race. When it was patched up, it placed 2nd in both the Monza Circuit, Curtiba Autodrome, and the Brasilia BRB. It was sold to Larbre Compétition towards the end of 1996, but then Mercedes decided to buy the car and use it as its testbed for the CLK GTR. When Mercedes was done with testing it and damaging the custom bodywork in the front, they converted it back to its original state and auctioned it off back to McLaren. Today, #11R is in the hands of Selected Car Investments.
