Cvt could’ve been so much better if the fia didnt ban it

What do you mean? you may think a clutch transmission being the fastest but you’d be wrong. In reality the french dude who made the concept car used a CVT or “Continously Variable Transmission” Is the pinnacle of not just eficency but also performance. In fact, the technology was banned after it’s use in Formula 1 because it provided too big of an advantage. What makes it so good? well a CVT, can choose any gear ratio within it’s range at any given time, and it can constantly, that gear ratio. That means it can simply hold the engine at peak power meaning the quickest acceleration and change the gear ratio as the vehicle’s speed changes. Never taking the engine off peak power. You cannot get any faster than this. You might be surprised and assume holding the engine at peak torque would be quicker right? Nope. Finally, CVT could achieve the same top speed going in backwards as it does in forward driving.

I feel like this is more of a negative than a positive

I mean it’s “Theoradically” but all cars have limiters to not reverse at such speed.

I meant that it ruins the fun since personally I would rather actually use a clutch

I like my cars manual and efficient, not those shitty ahh automatics

me omw to test this with my irl CVT car

it’s the best ever transmission from a technical standpoint
why have 5 or 6 gears when you can have all gears

can’t argue with that
also congrats for making this a top topic lmao

all because people are debating over cvt transmission

I’m honestly interested in learning more about CVTs used in car racing applications
You know any good CVT race cars?
