History:
The B-29A-BN was a key variant of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, a revolutionary heavy bomber central to the Pacific Theater in WWII. It was vital for strategic bombing, delivering massive payloads at high altitudes, and later saw service in the Korean War, solidifying its legacy as a pivotal WWII aircraft and the first nuclear-capable bomber. A total of 1,122 B-29A-BN were built.
Fun Fact!: The entire B-29 program cost over $3 billion (equivalent to over $50 billion today), which was more expensive than the Manhattan Project that developed the atomic bomb.
