And second, we also hate it because it put Pontiac out of business, so yeah. There is a reason beyond the madness :skull:

pontiac? pfft. Scion!

scion is ok, but they have weak transmissions and head gasket problems, although they do make some good models.

Being related to Toyota they have some good components but they do not share the same level of quality as toyota.
Dont get me wrong, they are a decent brand, better than the likes of chrysler/fiat/dodge, ford, and many german brands but they do not hold a candle to toyota or GM…(namely, buick, and pontiac as close 2nd)

Good models, yes.

Weak transmission? No. They had a manual transmission option and a automatic transmission option, and some model(s) had a CVT. They are very strong, since my 05 (MT) has a slightly bad synchro on the 2nd gear, when downshifting 3k rpm or higher. But it still works. My 2006 is a Auto, and its all original, with the same transmission fluid for YEARS. Its all about taking care of the car, not morons who beat on them.

Weak headgasket? Thats only on smaller engines. Like the 2004-2006 Scion xB and xA, (engine model: 1NZ-FE). Since they had so little power, people put them to their max, causing them to have a bad headgakset. I havent experienced this on my 2006 xB, which has 432k miles all original. My 2005, though, did have a bad headgasket. But the owner put all sort of mods into the engine, but did not upgrade the engine internal, thus, causing it to blow a headgasket and overheat.

Buick? Yes. Ford? Yes. Others, no. POS. Unreliable.

ford is junk except for the 4.6 and 3.9

Gaskets still shouldnt grenade with mods. Internal mods or not, unless you plan on going about 250hp or above. Still mediocre though. At least it isnt a northstar engine though.
Synchros shouldnt have gone out in the first place either.

As to the CVT, those are junk. Blow up all the time. Dont get one with the CVT I beg you.
Their autos are ok but on the weaker side, cannot take very much abuse at all. Normal driving they are fine; manuals are the strongest for many makes and models.

however if they made enough power to tune it and tried to tune it themselves, then no wonder it blew up
edit: Nobody can beat chrysler/dodge/fiat in terms of quality problems though lmao
Unfortunately, Chevrolet in this current age is not far behind although old Chevrolet sedans, trucks and sports cars are easily among the best

You must be talking about a nissan CVT. More over i have a 2022 toyota sienna hyrbid with a CVT, 49k miles in and NO issues. My 06 Scion xB has 432k miles with the ORIGINAL transmission, and its a automatic. Once again, youre talking smack about a reliable toyota.

About the gasket, you do realise there are headgaskets that can only withstand their specific compression. The higher/lower than the specific max compression, it will blow. The reason why my 05 xB blew their headgasket, is because about 15 years ago, the owner boosted the engine, and im guessing with no engine internal upgrades. And this also caused the engine to over heat multiple times, and it warped.
