this mx-5 competed in 1997 and 1998 in JGTC, in GT300 against cars like the Silvia GT300 which seemed to be far more powerful
instead of the wimpy I4 it had orginally, Kagiesen engine swapped it for the 13B from a FD RX-7, then strapped turbos to it just for grins
unfortunately, this very funky Mazda only managed to get 14th and 12th in the first 2 races of 1997, then unfortunately retired in basically the rest of the season’s races due to the fact the 13B wasn’t very reliable
It only competed in one race in 1998, and once again it retired from the race
overall, this was basically someone’s project car that wasn’t really successful in racing
