History
So in 2009, the regulations permabanned the MR layout, which was bad news for the legendary NSX-GT Phase 5. However, the officials let the NSX compete one last time, albeit with weight penalties and engine power restrictors. That NSX-GT was run by all 5 original teams (Keihin/Real Racing, Takata Dome, Autobacs Racing Team Aguri/ARTA, and last but not least Epson Nakajima Racing). Unfortunately, nearly all the NSXs got crushed, but the ARTA NSX went out with a blaze of glory, winning the final race of the season and taking 2nd in the standings. In the meantime, Honda was building the HSV-010 GT road car, in preparation to qualify for regulations in 2010. At the same time as that, Honda was still clinging onto the NSX staying alive, so they made a NSX FR test mule. They chose a V8 based on a Formula Nippon car, but detuned it a bit to fit regulations while keeping most of its parts intact (which gives it the high pitched flyby in the video). When the HSV-010 prototype was unveiled at the beginning of the 2010 Super GT season, entering 4 out of the 5 original teams - Dome changing its name to Wielder last second. The HSV-010 had a blaze of glory that year- ARTA taking a win at Suzuka, Wielder taking the championship and 2 race wins, and Keihin Real Racing taking one win and 3rd. This car is the modified but still mostly same 2011 HSV-010 GT, with a unique split radiator to reduce rolling in corners. However, the officials were done with the HSV-010 GT and deregulated the FR only format after 2013 to make it more fair, which led to the rise of the Honda NSX Concept-GT.
