crazy how watching YouTube videos gives me random cars for me to suggest, not that it’s a bad thing because suggesting a Porsche is always something nice
originally a car that was built by TWR as an XJR-14 (hence why the car is called the TWR WSC-95 sometimes), Porsche decided to buy the project to enter the WSC class of IMSA (also why the car was called the WSC-95), but as regulations changed, the car would never see itself enter in the WSC class
after a year of being dormant after the project was canned, Reinhold Joest would take ownership of the car, and collaborate with Porsche to make it able to be raced in Le Mans under the LMP1 class along with building a second chassis, but just because Porsche worked with Joest Racing to make the car viable for Le Mans didn’t mean that it was considered a factory backed project
ironically, the car ended up being better than the 911 GT1s that Porsche was racing at the time, and it took two victories at Le Mans for the 96-97 seasons
after Porsche saw the success of their past project, Porsche would buy the car back to rework it into the LMP1-98, but unfortunately the competition had evolved enough at the time to the point where it was simply ineffective
