not sure if anyone has already suggested this but make it where if a tire gets too roughed up then it can pop instead of the entire wheel coming off. Since the tire will be off then the wheel will start to create sparks. Depending on the material the car or truck is driving on is what depends on how many sparks it will create. If its on something such as sand or dirty it will create little to no sparks but if its on something like metal or concreate it will be certain for it to create sparks

It is possible to pop the tires with the lasers, and not take the wheels off (I think)
