Renault performed on a grand scale at the salon, whose technical problems with the avant-garde Avantime have already become public. The car (in the past - an outstanding concept car) was supposed to go to dealers on September 3, but now even its advertising campaign has been canceled. There is no certainty that the Talisman concept car will have the happy fate of Avantime. And yes, there is a sense of desperation in the title itself. Indeed, a breakthrough in the field of design has been made, the top of the lineup has been formed - such a large car as the Talisman (length 4805 mm, width 1950 mm, height 1380 mm, base 2950 mm) is no longer needed.
Doors of the “gull-wing” type with a length of 2450 mm (!) open access to two rows of seats at once. (By the way, the huge doors of the prestigious Avantime could not be taught to close with a sound appropriate to its class.) Garage owners: with the doors raised, the height of the car increases to 2130 mm, and the width - up to 2480 mm. The chief designer of the firm Patrick Le Quement paid special attention to the interior. Tag Heuer watches - this already says a lot. The clock is the only thing that breaks the power monotony of the torpedo. The devices are grouped near the steering wheel, there are four in total, and they are made of several layers of crystal. A monitor is placed in a deep niche between the front panel and the windshield, which transmits a panoramic image from three video cameras that replaced the rear-view mirrors. The system was supplied by Donnely. A number of control functions are assigned to the monitor, and the driver can give commands by voice. The seats are interestingly solved - they vaguely resemble beach chairs.
Maitre Le Quement has never lost his sense of style. And Talisman has all the elements that unmistakably identify the work of Renault. However, there is something cosmopolitan about this car… Under the hood, the Talisman has a 32-valve V8 with a volume of 4.5 liters. Details are not reported, but it is known that only Nissan President has such a motor. Its power is 269 hp. at 5600 rpm, and the maximum torque is 394 Nm at 4000 rpm. Is this one of the first fruits of the Nissan acquisition?
The rear-wheel-drive Talisman is fitted with Michelin PAX tires on Montupet aluminum 21-inch rims, colossal diameter disc brakes (380mm!) with six-piston calipers.
