ill try to explain this as best i can
relay races are just like drag races except youre not just racing one car. you can set a max total race class in increments of 50 up to 450, excluding 0 of course. you can select 2-4 cars to fit that class range. also, there is no minimum class requirement, so if you want to go bring f-class cars to an x-class relay, go for it. if you’re struggling to pick cars for the relay, there will be an auto pick button that chooses cars as close to the max class as possible.
alternatively, instead of a max total race class, you can select the max race class for each car taking part in the relay.
after cars have been chosen for the relay, they will be shuffled in a random order to ensure fair play.
whoever wins the first race will get a headstart of the difference in finish times in seconds. the way a headstart works is, whatever the difference in race times is, the loser has to wait that much time after the winner drives off. if the loser gets a faster time, the difference in total times will be taken off from the winner’s headstart. if the loser retakes the lead, the difference in total times will be added to them as their headstart. if the loser falls behind further, the difference in total times will be the winner’s new headstart.
the winner of the relay race will ultimately be whoever is in the lead on the final race.
this new feature would be available only for quarter mile drag races (potentially kilometer straights too). you will be able to select the type of drag race, either regular or relay. if relay is chosen, a new button will appear above the race configuration ui: “configure relay”. this will open up a menu that allows you to select the car count and class requirements. there will also be the option for “hot seat”, which forces random car selection.
for obvious reasons, the SSCs and F0 class cars will be banned from this race type.
