The idea of the C88 was also tried to be exported to India to expand the market and amortize the design and development work, but no agreement was reached either. Porsche provided engineering services for other cars, including the Audi RS2, Lada Samara and SEAT Ibiza.
The C88 shows some design cues that point to its destiny. It begins with the name itself: C stands for China, eight is the lucky number in Asia . There is no Porsche logo anywhere on the car; instead on the steering wheel and grille there is a stylized triangle with three points that represent the Chinese family during the one-child policy, the father, mother and child.
