not that close, its 911 to the beetle because both are often compared with each other consantly and for good reason, both the 911 and beetle were round rear engined vehicle that evolved over the years rather than constantly reinventing the wheel, and you can see that here with the 963 as it has many elements taken from the idr (low hood with large fenders with large rear wing) just changed to fit the regulations and more optimised for its purpose (pikes peak vs. endurance prototype). it takes elements from the 919 evo and the idr, with the main differences being a much bigger use of a front wing and new f1 style sidepods with a bigger diffuser

also theres the fact that the 911 had a slower cousin called the 912 which used a beetle engine so pffft

basically what im trying to say is the vw nardo and and the carrera gt arent even worth comparing to these doods as theyre entirely different meanwhile the beetle and 911 are a lot closer to the analogy

from a powerplant perspective, yes, but from design, not really, same with the 911 and beetle, meanwhile carrera gt and nardo W12 are completely different from both ends

honestly it’s crazy how this might be getting a road car variant in the next 3-4 years (at least that’s what I’d assume), Porsche hasn’t done this since the 917 was made

in terms of a purpose built race car that is completely bespoke, the GT1s while they are practically built from the ground up, use some parts from the 911s of their respective generations
