My idea for suggestion merging

By this i mean that it would be nice to change the “new post merges to old post” with a “less liked merges to more liked” kind of system.

The new post will be given a week to surpass the old post in likes (it can be increased to two weeks if the older post has more than 10 likes), this would prevent vehicles from getting insufficient likes and therefore not being spotted by devs.

Tell me your opinion on this system. Would you change anything of it?

this would only work if the original post is really old and has no images

I suggest closing posts that have no pictures and no way to identify the exact car suggested
Eg. there’s a “Honda Civic” suggestion with no images nor text, so we can’t tell the generation of it. Makes it a useless post

i think new posts should be merged with old ones that don’t have images but the title of said old post has the name of the exact car being suggested which the new post also had, that way images can be restored to the old post and the new post is merged into it

when it comes to old posts that have zero images and the title is vague (for example, Rolls-Royce Wraith without the model year or generation), those should definitely be closed because it would be impossible to tell what specific wraith was being suggested

anyways old posts with the title of the exact car being suggested with no images should have their images restored so the new post of it can be merged, while old posts with a vague title and no images should be closed, seems pretty fair to me

we only really close old posts that have basically no information at all, if there’s at least some images in the replies and the title has enough information to go off of, that suggestion is fine

it’s kinda basically what everybody’s said in the replies, I think it’s still better to merge to an older post that has sufficient information because it makes more sense chronologically

Also how about merging visually identical concept and production versions of the car to the latter (even if it has more or less likes)? Eg. Lamborghini Barchetta Concept is visually identical to its production version, the Murcielago Roadster, so it doesn’t make sense to suggest the prototype

if it’s exactly the same design, then I’ll merge to the post that was suggested first in chronological order, it doesn’t make sense to merge an older post to a newer one

And it doesn’t make sense to merge the production version into the concept either

so theoretically using this philosophy the lp650-4 could get merged into the murcielago roadster

It’d likely get merged under trims rule, not the one I proposed

oh damn
well technically i suggested it before the trims
