Minecraft Live 2022: Final Poll + Upcoming Features

Today, in this post, we’ll discuss the brief preview of the updates in store, and the final poll for the Minecraft Live 2022 Mob Vote.

1: Highlights and previews of the upcoming update v1.2.0

Camels

As you might expect, Camels will be exclusive to the desert biomes of Minecraft. Though, you might find them wandering around in the other neighboring biomes as well. One thing that is confirmed about their spawning is that the camels will only spawn above-ground in the overworld dimensions.

Due to their tall height, they can’t accidentally spawn within the lush caves, dripstone caves, and other caves in-game. More often than not, you will find these lovely animals sitting on the desert floor, waiting for a rider. And you also get the wobbly mechanics, similar to the real world, for when the camels get up.

The camel will have the following abilities:

  • Sprint: For a limited period, you can make the camel run faster and easily avoid the enemies chasing you. So it could be an excellent replacement for a horse.
  • Dash: Similar to sprint, the dash ability allows camels to move quickly from one location to another. Instead of an increase in speed, this ability is similar to a quick long jump, which can be useful in crossing dangerous ravines and water bodies.
  • Speed: In complex terrains, camels are much slower than horses. But in flat areas, they can gain speed over time, which should allow them to easily compete with horses. Racing the camel against a horse to see who’s faster will be our priority when Minecraft 1.20 betas and preview builds are released in the coming weeks.

Unlike horses, up to two players can ride a single camel at the same time in Minecraft 1.20, making them the ultimate travel combat mob in the game. The blog site Beebom calls it a combat mob because one player can fight the hostile mobs while the other steers them out of harm’s way. This mechanic opens up a variety of new possibilities in the game that all the players in Minecraft multiplayer servers will enjoy. Expanding on the rideability, it seems that each player will need their own saddle to ride the camel. Though, no confirmation about the same has been revealed yet.

As revealed during the Minecraft Live 2022 event, the camels in Minecraft will eat cactus plants that grow in the desert biome, which is also home to this new mob. This is similar to real life and makes the cactus (primarily used to make green dye for wool) more useful with the next update.

Much like most domestic mobs in Minecraft, you can also breed camels to spawn baby camels. To breed them, you need to get two camels next to each other and feed each of them a piece of cactus. Following that, a baby camel will spawn after a few seconds. Then, you will have to wait for a few minutes to be able to breed the camels again. In the meantime, the baby camel might also grow into an adult.

Hanging Signs

Craftable by combining chains and signs, hanging signs are going to be a part of Minecraft. You can place them on the side and even the bottom of the blocks. You no longer have to put them on the ground. Moreover, you can create a bunch of decorative items by putting signs under signs as well.

Bamboo Blocks And Rafts

We are getting a new family of wood in Minecraft featuring their own planks, blocks, and more. They are a part of developers’ attempts to bring more representation to the game. Moreover, to make this wood set even more special, the bamboo wood can be used to craft decorative bamboo mosaic blocks. There is no such block for other types of wood in Minecraft. Not to forget, you can also use bamboo wood to craft rafts in the game. They work just like boats in Minecraft but are more open looking in appearance.

New And Improved Bookshelves

Bookshelves are finally useful in Minecraft. After crafting a chiseled bookshelf, you can store regular and enchanted books in them. They also interact with Redstone in the game. If you interact with the same book twice, the bookshelf sends a Redstone signal to its neighboring blocks.

Sniffers

As revealed during Minecraft Live 2022, Sniffers will not spawn naturally in the overworld Minecraft biomes. Instead, you will have to find its eggs in the ocean ruins and then bring the Sniffer back to life. Once it’s back, the Sniffer slowly grows from its baby form into an adult. Then it roams around the world to sniff and dig seeds for the players. Players can use these seeds to grow some rare decorative plants in Minecraft.

Sniffer Eggs, similarly to Turtle Eggs will slowly crack over time and eventually hatch into a baby Sniffer. The Sniffer Egg can be broken by being jumped on, similarly to Turtle Eggs. However, this may not be a feature unless thoroughly confirmed by Mojang AB.

Unlike with Turtle Eggs, no mobs will try to break Sniffer Eggs, as no information was given about the hatching process, but they may if further information is given. Sniffers will occasionally sniff the air, when doing so, they have a chance of picking up the scent of something they find interesting. If a Sniffer picks up a scent, it will slowly trudge to where it smelt something, and dig it up. After digging something up, however, Sniffers may not be able to dig again for 1 minute, as no information was given of the mob’s cooldown time. But this may not be the case unless confirmed.

it would dig up special new seeds that would be used to grow new decorative plants, however, since we haven’t been given a good idea of what these plants could be, the Sniffer in this mod just digs up random existing seeds.

It has been confirmed that Sniffers would be breedable, but we don’t know what they would be bred with, it’s a good assumption that it would be with a plant they help dig up. After breeding, a Sniffer will lay a Sniffer Egg, but this may not be the case if it’s officially added to Minecraft. But it is likely.

2: Mob Vote Final Poll

The announcement of Mob Vote 2022’s winner was made during the Minecraft Live 2022 event. Unlike previous polls, we noticed a one-sided opinion for Mob Vote 2022 since its announcement. And these opinions carried over to the final results too. As revealed during the event, Tuff Golem got the least amount of votes and was voted out, while also nearly catching up to the Rascal. Meanwhile, the Rascal, voted by thousands of Minecraft speedrunners, was the runner-up, leaving the throne to the Sniffer, who got over 50% of the millions of votes in Minecraft Mob Vote 2022.
