If you are talking to someone in dm’s, you can tell that they are replying, but you aren’t able to see their message until you go to your notifications, and click the notification you get from it, then you can see the message.
To put it in a simplified form, I can’t see messages unless I go to my notifications and click on the notification that pops up.
