NAME: Mazda iconic SP
With everyone hopping on the Sports EV train recently, it comes to no surprise that a brand such as Mazda would want to dive in and give it a go for themselves. And that’s exactly what they did when revealing the Iconic SP yesterday in Tokyo.
It only takes a quick glance at the car to notice how Mazda designers were inspired from the RX line, and despite being hydrogen-powered, the SP living up to the RX series’ name seems very possible.
Despite being an EV, the SP also features a rotary, serving as a means to charge the rotors much like the MX-30 R-EV. The car remains a “concept” for now, with no set release date. However, the presence of specs and the public reveal could mean that it’ll enter production soon, hopefully being available within the next 2 to 3 years.
