Bengt Lidmalm was a Swedish car enthusiast who visited the TVR dealer in the British city of Earls Court during a business trip in 1993 . The technical characteristics and design of the Anglo-Saxon cars greatly impressed Bengt and when he returned home decided to found his own car company to build cars similar to those made by the English brand.
Thus was born in 1994 the Jösse Car whose main production plant was located in the city of Arvika, the birthplace of Mr. Lidmalm. The designer Hans Philip Zackau was involved in the construction of the first car, famous for having cooperated with Jan Wilsgaard for the development of Volvo 850 produced between 1991 and 1997.
Thus was born the Indigo 3000, a roadster based on a spaceframe steel frame covered with a body made using carbon fiber and Kevlar. A Volvo B6304FS 3.0 24V hexacylinder was mounted as the engine, managed by a manual gearbox Volvo M90 with two ratios and combined with rear wheel drive. Derived from the Volvo 960 and capable of generating the power of 204 hp with 272 Nm of torque, the engine was able to push the Indigo 3000 up to the maximum speed of 250 km/h with acceleration from 0 to 100 im/h in 6,5 seconds.
Other components were derived from other cars and among these the most important were the tank of the Saab 900, the seats of the Volvo S40. the steering of the Volvo 850 and the rear suspension of the Volvo 960. In 1995 the car was approved for road circulation and in 1996 industrial production began with the first deliveries to customers. Sales were good in the early days, enough to force Lidmalm to open a second factory in the city of Åmål to cope with orders. In 1996 the design quality of the Indigo 3000 was also rewarded with the prestigious Swedish recognition Utmärkt Svensk Form, but in 1998 the company ended in an economic crisis from which it was unable to escape. So it was that in 1999 the company closed for bankruptcy, after having built only 44 specimens of the small roadster.
