Inconsistent Weight Density/Buoyancy in relation to water (Physics/Weight Bug)

What is the bug?
Answer: Certain cars have inconsistent interactions with water physics and do not have realistic buoyancy given their weight and cars of certain weight similar to them. Cars with incredibly light weight compared to other cars have no problem sinking to the bottom of the water unlike their counterparts. The weight that cars start to normally sink around is 8-10 tonnes but I have found cars that can reach less than a ton that react to water physics similar to the weight of a tank or heavy truck/car.

Before you say car physics in this game is broken, for the majority of the cars the weight density related to their mass is realistic but there its only the inconsistency which makes it stand out the more you look into it. Heavier cars will travel faster in water whereas the lighter a car is the more it will float.

Cars that I have found that unrealistically react to weight compared to similar vehicles. (Keep in mind almost all vehicles above 10 tonnes sink regardless of what class/type of car or truck they are.

  • Golf Cart (0.4 Tonnes)
  • Zumbiant Icemaster (4.42 Tonnes)
  • Paganotta A1 (3.3 Tonnes)
  • Bucotti Type 53 (0.76 Tonnes!!!) [This car is so light there is no reason why it should be anything but fully buoyant
  • Bucotti Veiro Hyper Sport (1.9 Tonnes)
  • Reulter FT-67 (2.63 Tonnes) [Its a tank so maybe it has more density than whats being said???]
  • Macedas Special Roadster (2.24 Tonnes)
  • Duneripper V2 (4.1 Tonnes)

How often does the bug happen? (Everytime, sometimes or rarely)
Answer: Everytime (For the cars that sink)

What device did you play on? (Computer, Phone, Tablet or Xbox)
Answer: Computer

What steps do you need to take for it to happen? List them in very high detail:

  1. Pick any of the aforementioned cars that have been deemed unrealistic sink weights
  2. Drive into any body of water
  3. Watch the cars sink to the bottom of the ocean (In 99% of the cases they are also driveable which should only be capable from extremely heavy cars/tanks)

Is the bug related to GUI/Interface on the screen? Or did the bug only appear for you? Check yes if the bug didn’t happen for everyone in the server at the same time.

Nothing to do with the avatar inside the car, it’s the cars materials/internals??? not really sure (approx 2 tonnes)

For comparison this truck weighs around 8 tonnes and is nearly fully sunken but still has slight buoyancy due to it not reaching the 10-15 tonne mark when cars start to consistently sink. This also shows that weigh does indeed affect the interactions with water a car has and proves that the car buoyancy is not randomized but is indeed affected by weight if normal rules applied (which in cases most of them do)

I don’t think a 0.7 tonne car sinking whilst every other car that comes remotely close to it in weight is an implemented feature. Seems like a bug to me when the majority of the cars are correctly assigned their weight in water but a few outliers differ.

to me its probably the size of tires, The sherp can somewhat float but the type 35 cannot due to its extremely thin tires

I also thought it was the tires at first but there are many different variation of sinking cars and their wheel type. Includes rollers, thick tires, thin tires but I see where you get your point from because I feel some tires do serve as floating mechanics. I purposely left those cars out however. To me this just seems like the value of weight was set wrong within an engine or tire because there seems to be no real pattern.

Tbh all cars except the peel and the 200 derby win cars should kinda float other no

Realistically speaking, any cars would float for a few seconds maybe a minute and then sink, heavier vehicles either sink faster or simply sink like tanks or industrial vehicles, better measured in tons but y’know.
