Improvements to The Mine Field crusher

it happens way too often where you hit one mine, you either die or the driver’s seat/engine is blown up, then the car either hits the wall or is too heavy to even move much and finally settles into place without hitting another mine. the crusher has one of the worst consistencies in full vehicle destruction and one of the worst or at least super inconsistent time to part destruction ratios in the game, so i’ve come up with an assortment of mix-and-match ideas to change that (these suggestions are made assuming the crusher was intended to work better; nothing wrong with a crusher that’s intentionally bad working as intended)

  • larger mine hitbox/radius of activation (maybe the increased hitbox only activates once at least one mine explodes?)
  • less time between collision and explosion (again, maybe this only occurs once one mine is already activated by the player)
  • reduced friction on ground
  • slight indentation or bowl-shape
    • related: the mines are in a slightly indented pit, maybe with a ramp leading up to it—this is so that the vehicle activates a mine closer to the center so there’s less chance of the vehicle shooting out the entrance and so that the player doesn’t have to get a ‘running start’ and accidentally drive past a mine before it explodes
  • explosion force is proportional to vehicle mass (doesn’t have to be a linear relationship)
  • chain reaction of explosions if mines are close enough together
    • maybe the explosion sprays cosmetic rubble in the same direction the vehicle goes
  • literally just spawn more mines
  • control panel that activates a cannon of some sort that shoots rocks at mines which are close to your vehicle
    • bonus points if the player can aim the cannon; would be fun minigame (oh also i think it would be cool to add more interactive features like letting the player aim The Water Slide somehow, or maybe the player is able to use a “The Slicer”-esque thing to split larger vehicles into smaller parts so they can fit in the smaller chutes)
  • reduced engine and/or wheel damage
  • mines no longer one-shot the player
  • larger explosion radius
  • mines placed on walls
  • mines have an invisible vertical hitbox
  • replace the crusher :troll:

How I’ll personally rework this crusher is replacing the floor with a small bowl dragging the car down to a bunch of landmines.

I tolerate this crusher at it’s current state.

Personally I get into the crusher fast so my vehicle hits many mines
You can also get out of it before a mine explodes

i didn’t even know this crusher existed

It’s decent for T1 cars (if you can hit enough mines) but horrible for bigger cars

instead of bowl what if they make it like The Tilted Speed Crash test but longer so its hard to hit the end bcs of the mines.
