Disable edit pencil for normal users

When you edit a post, a little pencil appears in the top right corner and everyone can see what was there before.

Now imagine you post an image with sensitive information on it, and you realize it a little bit later. You change the image, but the old one remains visible to everyone if they click on the pencil.

I suggest that this ability be reserved for mods only, because editing a post is in my opinion something personal that should not be visible to everyone.

But, what if we want to edit on our old posts just to add some more text or picture? Like this

I’m talking about the orange pencil, not the gray one to edit a message (I didn’t completely understand your question so pls don’t kill me if I answered wrong :peepocringe:)

eh, there’s a lot of situations where the edit pencil is actually helpful for normal users, such as when trying to understand the context of a situation or when looking at the edit history of a suggestion or bug

its also helpful for sharing large post formats and showing people how to do certain types of text formatting

If you’re in a situation where you accidentally posted sensitive information, you should be flagging this to the mods so we can destroy the edit history.

Only hiding it doesn’t do anything (and it breaks functionality)
