One thing that has bothered me and I bet a lot of other people in the community is trees stoping you from driving and ruining the flow. If a heavy truck hits a rotted log on the ground it shouldn’t make the car completely stop instead of breaking the log and moving along. As an example, I used the P1000 ratte and made it go 340 mph it crashed it straight into a palm tree. Logic would tell you than 604 tonnes of mass moving at 340 mph would destroy the palm tree but no. I did some calculations KE = 1/2 x 604,000 (152) with an exponent of 2. Then KE = 0.5 x 604,000 x 23,104. KE then equal to 6,977,408,000 joules (about 1.7 tons of tnt). A medium sized palm tree would be knocked down by 500,000 joules. Considering that the trucks kinetic energy is 13,960 times larger than the palm tree’s I think that it should knock it down instead of stopping it in its tracks. The amount of kinetic energy of a car in the game should be calculated and if it is greater than that of a tree’s then it should be knocked down and if it is below it than the tree should be bent or heavily damaged. There might be a simpler way of calculating the kinetic energy but I still think this would be a good thing to have in the game for more realism. This feature could extend to more items than just trees such as rocks, road barriers, and signs.
so uh… it’s complicated…
the humble physics calculations vs immovable force:
it’s not as simple as simply unanchoring the part though, you’d have to probably implement a whole new system for destructables as the gas station is the only destructible map part
Doing this will cause a LOT of lag though
respect for doing the math
I feel like indestructible trees require more skill from players since they have to avoid them when crossing the map
Like on forza horizon 4
He must have spent a good amount of time for this
The heck, I just destroyed the trees in Racing Master
And the physics
implementing this in a game that already treads the limits of roblox is flying a bit close to the sun, eh?
Me learning to code a fully functional website with articles, games (potentially 3D aswell), and many more
