Body crumpling and panel constraints for vehicles

In my opinion CC2’s damage system sometimes feels lacking because you can hit another vehicle and the parts in the area you hit take extreme damage, but the rest of the vehicle is mostly unaffected by the collision, or sometimes it feels like the car is one big object rather than an actual car made out of multiple panels, it’d be cool to see some sort of crumpling, for example you T-bone a vehicle and it causes the entire cab to be pushed away from the collision point and the front and rear end would rotate to still be connected to the cab, or to a lesser extent just some crumpling on the front and rear, like the hood, fenders, and trunk would crumple, I would never expect this to be added to the degree of the example images but something similar would be cool.

And something else I would like to see is panel constraints, like the hood, trunk, and doors could break open and swing around.

If one or both of these ideas were added I’d think it would make the vehicles feel heavier in crashes and feel more like a bigger structure made out of multiple panels rather than feeling like crashing a Lego car that can bend a little.

That would change all the purpose of the game

What do you mean? I’m assuming you think I’m saying cars should only crumple, if so that’s not what I mean by the crumpling, all I’m trying to suggest is that the hood or something could be made out of two halves and one could go up while the other goes down to make it look as if the front end is actually crumpling, I’m not saying the entire damage system should be changed to crumple rather then break apart, I apologize if I’m misunderstanding.

Car would need to be remodeled differently and it would just make it harder for a game that is based on a more optimized car crashing experience than realism

Yeah that’s true, but I know some cars already have a separate hood and trunk that rotate upward in collisions so I wouldn’t think it’d be that performance impacting or hard to make it swing around if the impact is great enough and cut the hood in half so it can crumple.

my question is
how tf did you import beamngs physics engine into roblox

Bc it doesnt make any sense since this is roblox not an ultra realistic experience

the game would be laggy as hell and back bro

if panwellz will ever plan to make cc3 I’ll make sure you’ll be hired

cc3 on steam :eyes:

That would be sick

if the game is still around in 5 years this will probably be added

great idea, although i don’t think crumpling is possible with the current models in cc2 as each car is made of individual polygons instead of a single body

Yeah that’s the problem and remodel for this would be crap as it would ruin the unique look of the car compared to other game

but a lot of them already have separated hood, trunk and doors

This is a great suggestion. I don’t understand the criticism, vehicles are already separated into pieces as they are.

Soft-body physics are possible but incredibly difficult.

Remember this is roblox, not Beamng

judging by the pics the OP’s actually willing to help, heck he even used a model that’s also in CC2

OP is dedicated to their cause and I’m here for it.
