The Boeing B-52H is a long-range, heavy bomber, first delivered in May 1961 as the final, most advanced variant of the B-52 series, with 102 built. Designed for Cold War nuclear deterrence. The B-52H has been utilized in numerous conflicts, including operation Desert Storm (1991), the war in Yugoslavia (1999), and operations over Afghanistan and Iraq.

The B-52H Stratofortress is nicknamed “BUFF,” which stands for “Big Ugly Fat F***r”. (or “Big Ugly Fat Fellow” in official, polite contexts). This moniker originated in the 1950s/1960s to describe the massive, 8-engine bomber’s bulky appearance, vast payload, and formidable, non-stealthy presence.
