Production:
The technical components such as the drive and chassis were built in Japan and came to Italy by ship. At Zagato in Milan, the cars were finally assembled by hand.

Design features:

  • vaguely resembles Maserati Shamal
  • front clamshell hood
  • headlights from a Nissan S13 Silvia
  • large hood & side mirrors mounted on the front fenders as a tribute to older Japanese vehicles
  • wheels with a solid piece of NACA duct (believed to be for brake cooling)
  • inspired the Nissan R35 GT-R door handle design
  • redesigned typical 1980s Japanese utilitarian interior
(Added leather, Alcantara, and wood inserts throughout the cabin, making it a lot more upscale)
  • right-hand drive
  • intended for the Japanese market only

Car review:

“Despite its bizarre and unique looks, he praised the car for its good performance and comfort.”

“Although the Stelvio wasn’t a sports car, it could outrun a Corvette C4 automatic easily.”
