this was the earlier variant of the Mooncraft Shiden (final form in 2011 was suggested by Frank, has a cooler livery than this imo) that used the Zurich Apple navy blue and gold color scheme
It was introduced in 2006 as Mooncraft found a loophole in the rules that allowed custom chassis cars like the Vemacs and ARTA Garaiya to exist, so they based the Shiden off a Riley Mk XI Daytona Prototype spec chassis (hence the name “MoonCraft/Riley Technologies- Mark 16”) and shoved a 1UZ-FE Toyota V8 in there making about 450-495 bhp (the same engine in the Toyota Chaser/Lexus LS400)
In 2006, it didn’t see much success until it took pole position at Fuji Speedway, but unfortunately didn’t win the race
It eventually won a race at Autopolis with a pole position there too, but it sadly got runner-up in the Driver’s and 3rd in the Team’s championship
In 2007, the Shiden took 2 second place finishes in the start of the season, and took a 1st place finish at Suzuka, but its 3rd place finish in the final round at Fuji gave it the Team’s championship (althought it lost in the Driver’s because it had one race win compared to the two race wins the MR-S had)
The 2007 race season was the last of the great success of the Shiden though, placing 4th, then 7th, and 4th again in 2008-2010 overall
The Shiden was eventually banned in 2012-2013 as new regulations declared that a road car had to be made to compete in Super GT, ending the competitiveness of the Shiden
