2004 Nissan Fairlady Z Z33 GT500 JGTC (#12 Team Impul Calsonic 350Z)

oh boy.

so yeah, this was the first time Nissan had put a Z in JGTC/Super GT (except the privateer team ran 300ZX IMSA GTO), and this replaced the aging Skyline GT-R GT500 at the time
This particular model is the one ran by Team Impul (better known as the team behind the R32 Group A’s dominance in the 90s) and sponsored by Calsonic
Even though this was run by a legendary team, unfortunately this car took an awful 12th in the standings in 2004, although it did win the last championship race at Suzuka (however the MOTUL Z GT500 did win the championship that year)
It also took a 4th place finish at the JGTC Live event, although it failed to start in the 2nd and final race there maybe it got too scared of the piaa nsx who had pole and led every lap of that 2nd race

in summary, this was the debut year for a somewhat unproven car, and Team Impul probably wasn’t used to it yet leading to the disappointing results (however they would win the championship in 2022 with a Z after a 28-year drought of a championship win)
