Ford Ranger SVT Lightning Bolt Concept
As we mentioned the 5.4L supercharged V8 is under the concept truck hood. In this configuration it is reported to be making 420 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. That is more power than in the F-150 SVT Lightning thanks to a modified induction system and a free-flowing exhaust. In order to fit this engine, the front suspension had to be lowered by two inches. Lower control arms and steering knuckles from the F-150 SVT Lightning were used as well. Getting all this power to the ground required a bit of extra rubber. Actually, a LOT of extra rubber. The tires in the back are massive 345-35/18 steamrollers. MotorWeek got this truck down their quarter mile test track in 13.5 seconds at 101 mph. That is nearly a full second quicker than what the F-150 SVT Lightning could manage back in the day.
