The 1997 Oldsmobile Alero concept car was a popular attraction at auto shows and many of these styling cues were evident in the production model that later debuted.
The Alero concept car is not an abstract, unrealizable creation. And with a high probability, one can assume that this is how Oldsmobile cars will look like in a few years. Several sports coupes were exhibited by General Motors Corp. Among them, the concept of a sports coupe Oldsmobile Alero Alpha attracts attention, in the design of which - headlights, front end, side panels - much resembles other members of the family - first of all, Aurora and Intrigue. Alero Alpha is just a concept, so there is no talk of a powertrain or dynamic characteristics. GM believes that the combination of traditional Oldsmobile design cues with sporty styling, luxurious finishes and functionality should appeal to the Alero Alpha for American imported sports car buyers. Indeed, the interior of Alero Alpha has all the elements commonly associated with luxury - leather, suede, wood and brushed metal. In terms of functionality: with a machine length of 4623 mm, its wheelbase is 2870 mm, which significantly adds space in the cabin. The sense of spaciousness is enhanced by the removable photochromic glass roof in two halves, each of which can be individually controlled in transparency.
The functionality of the car should be evidenced by the APS of all wheels and the gearshift buttons placed on the steering wheel, which are adjacent to the air conditioning control buttons and the music system. The cruise-control system, in addition to its direct functions, maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front. There is, of course, both the GUIDESTAR navigation system and a hands-off cell phone. Alero Alpha’s steering wheel is naturally wooden with leather trim.
