1977 Porsche 935/2.0 Coupé "Baby"

NAME: Porsche 935/2.0 Coupé

while the name “Baby” might suggest that this car was underpowered, it was anything but underpowered

the car was built to Division 1 specs, which meant that the engine displacement had to be kicked down to meet the 2.0 litre displacement cap (which is also further compounded by a 1.4 litre displacement cap for forced induction parts, in this case a turbocharger), but knowing Porsche, this wasn’t going to be very hard to do

however, with only two months to build the car, it wasn’t nearly well developed enough, and the first race it raced in, it retired because driver Jacky Ickx would’ve passed out from the boiling hot interior due to the July sun beating down on him

after some more sensible development was done, the car absolutely smoked the competition, taking it’s first and only win, because Porsche had made their statement already, and retired the car for good
