this might be a slight break from the surge of normal econobox suggestions, but I wanted to put this out there since I’ve been pretty interested in race cars recently
as Ferrari was slowly developing and making new cars, there obviously needed to be race cars to keep asserting their dominance in the racing scene, but the 365 GTB/4 Daytona actually originally wasn’t intended for racing, as it was just a road car
the car obviously was based off of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona road car, but it was modified significantly from the road car, shaving an incredible 400 kg of weight off of the road car
Ferrari did not actually race any of these cars as the manufacturer themselves, but rather it was sold to privateers that would instead race with it
this car was meant to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with not much success for the 1969 model year, but later iterations would achieve a good degree of success in other races for their respective racing classes
