1967 Nissan R380A-II

NAME: 1967 Nissan R380A-II

A racing prototype developed as the successor of the Prince R380 (after the 2 companies merged), this race car was just like its predecessor. It set new speed records, did pretty well on the track (getting a majority of Top 5 spots in a handful of races), and did it while looking elegant as it is. One R380-II was also restored by Nismo in 2005 and is now displaying in a showroom.

Obscure Cars Daily on Instagram: "1967 Nissan R380-II. Today’s car was suggested by @tsubakisam, and it’s a damned good one! The R380-II (also known as the R380A-II) was a prototype racer that Nissan had constructed as a successor to the Prince R380, which was one of the first Japanese attempts at creating a vehicle entirely for sports car racing (and had placed both first and second at the 1966 Japanese Grand Prix). After Prince and Nissan merged in 1966, a new car was envisioned; the R380-II. Engineers went over Prince’s original car and began making improvements to the chassis, as well as the bodywork and engine. The new design was much more aerodynamic and also flaunted a pair of gullwing doors, with the overall design being similar to the Porsche 906. Extremely similar as in, “Yo, Porsche. We straight up copied your shit again, bro. Do somethin”. Power from the 2.0L inline-six had been increased to 220bhp, which was plenty for the lightweight racer. Although the car proved fast at the 1967 Japanese Grand Prix, it still fell second to...a Porsche 906. Regardless, the car went on to break 7 international closed-circuit speed records the Yatabe later that year. #obscurecarsdaily #cargram #cargasm #carporn #classiccars #carsofinsta #vintagecar #vintagecars #carlife #instacars #carsofinstagram #carinstagram #carswithoutlimits #carphotography #cargramm #carstagram #oldcars #oldcar #rarecar #rarecars #instacar #carsofinsta #automotive #fastcar #fastcars #exoticcar #exoticcars #supercar #supercars #nissan #racecar"
