1963 Volkswagen Beetle ii

The Volkswagen Beetle is a famous worldwide phenomenon that almost blew American cars out of the market. I personally drive a 1971 Super Beetle but I think the 1963 ragtop Beetle is regarded as one of the most iconic models. I think the ragtop would also be great in allowing a primary color for the body and a secondary color for the vinyl in the roof. Don’t forget that the engine is in the back and the trunk is in the front. It always turns heads when someone thinks you’ve casually started loading groceries into your engine.

I think the New Beetle R Line is decent as an affordable and speedy car but it will never reach the iconography of the original Beetle.

All cars made by Volkswagen featured an air cooled flat four engine mounted at the rear and a four speed transmission (with 3 speed autostick introduced later in production). Volkswagen didn’t produce a water cooled front engine car until 1974 with the introduction of their more modern lineup (Golf, Passat etc…). Volkswagen still produced rear engine cars in Germany until 1979 and Volkswagen do Brasil still made a rear engine bus until 2015.
