actually evs are dirtier, it’s the other way round
plus hybrids are pointless in the real world, not suited for long trips plus more expensive and you have to carry a 300-500kg battery around, which is a bad thing for load capacity and puts more stress on the running gear
I’m not entirely against electrics, but the technology for them needs improvement still, it hasn’t evolved that much ever since they were introduced in the early 2000s

let’s take for example my dad’s 2024 toyota rav4 prime xse
has about 40 miles (64 km) on a full charge of the battery, and has over 300 miles of range via gas
considering me and my family don’t do long trips often, and we’re just doing short trips + gas is usually 7 usd a gallon and the mpg of the rav4 is ~50 mpg, you save a little over 6 usd for each charge
it gives you a little boost of range for free, and saves you money on gas here in the extremely expensive state of califonia
imagine not having gas for $3

but over here fuel is less than $1 per litre so uhhhh

phevs are only effective if your gas prices cost as much as it is here in southern california
although i do get the ice being more sustainable, i’ve been trying to convince my parents a used mazda 6 is better as a first car than a new corolla hybrid (mainly due to toyota now making you pay for your gps)

the other day i found a 39k mile mazda 6 turbo for sale about 10 miles away from where i am for about 23k usd
when I go to uni (hopefully) with a state-funded education programme my parents promise to give me cash
that cash would’ve been my university fund otherwise, planning to save some of it up and get myself something not too shabby
but of course I need to finish school and not fuck my exams up beforehand
