Why did CC2 pick Monaco as the new upcoming map?

I was wishing that CC2 would get new maps to drive around, explore and make cool cinematic scenes that is actually not just main island, and seeing that a new map (and not a derby map) is announced and is coming up by a few days is very exciting. Though I do wondered why did the developers pick Monaco as the new upcoming map? It could’ve been like a Desert, or a mountainous range, etc… Monaco was specifically chosen as the newest and the currently the only map that is actually different. I don’t hate this map, but Monaco is one of the few last places I expected to be turned into a map, why?

so basically
my friend enchanted had a layout of monaco he built for fun lying around, so for a headstart on the map contest we used that to base our map off of instead of starting completely from scratch
and uh we had no idea it was going to be that hard to build the entirety of monaco so yeah

How hard was it to build Monaco? (Says to the person who never went to Monaco)

uhm
basically hell for the 3 people working on it since i kinda just made 3 traffic cars made like 0.1 percent of the sidewalks and went to modeling cars for cc2

The Monaco map probably won the contest because it is more detailed. Although it isn’t particularly interesting to explore since it is quite small (for obvious reasons) it is very fun. The big problem is that THEY STILL HAVENT OPTIMIZED IT. The game is laggy in exactly the same spots. I would rather have a smooth-running game than see useless details. :/
