back then christianity and catholicism viewed witchcraft as heresy and links to paganism or devil worship, giving the idea some weight morally.
accusations usually come from neighbouring conflicts, envy, etc rather than randomly doing it with malice

religion isnt only built on feelings, it roots from the following:
- beliefs (morality, ultimate reality, about God, etc)
- doctrines / teachings
- practices
- evidence (not the same kind as scientific ones)
the cambridge dictionary’s definition of “fact” is: something that is known to have happened or exist, especially something for which proof exists, or about which there is information.
so no proof does NOT equal non-factual
then it links to the debate “the existence of God”, we cant observe him directly, therefore it depends on faith and how ppl interpret him, which is why theres still debates about his existence

the issue isnt the religion, its how ppl view events thru cultural + religious lenses
for example on the christian side, after the defeat of the crusades, black death, etc. some european christians questioned the church’s authority & some doctrines, which contributed to the growth of secularism, renaissance, etc. most ppl remained devout tho some gradually lost faith
in conclusion, it all comes down to the interpretation on one’s religious teachings, faith and tradition, not just “feelings”, but cant be treated as purely factual in scientific sense, ultimately sits at the middle of belief, experience and reason

oh and btw, the main topic is about the modern world, not just religion
Wouldn’t it kinda suck having to build your life from the ground up without any birth certificate or passport assuming you take the only good option wich is like the 80s-2000s I think is easier because of diseases and stuff
