In January 2009, the exclusive Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss* speedster will premiere at the Detroit Auto Show . The car was created in honor of Sir Stirling Moss, who in the 50s of the last century raced German brand cars and is still considered one of the best pilots in the world. The exclusive supercar will be produced in a limited edition of 75 units and will be the last car of the SLR family, created as part of a collaboration between Mercedes and McLaren.

The novelty received a 650-horsepower 5.5-liter V8 engine with a mechanical supercharger, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. According to the manufacturer, the Mercedes SLR McLaren Stirling Moss can accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Note that all the technical filling of the speedster is borrowed from the conventional SLR and the main differences come down to a completely new body, completely made of carbon fiber and having neither a folding roof nor a windshield.

Recall that the production of conventional SLR will end in May 2009, but for the release of the exclusive version of Stirling Moss, which will begin in June, the cooperation between Mercedes and McLaren will last until December. The cost of the speedster will be 750 thousand euros.
