Leyland Motors Lynx B60 1986

History and other

The Leyland Motors Lynx B60 meant to enter production in 1986 but was delayed but eventually, it saw daylight as a real vehicle, it was meant to be a bus capable of transporting enough people inside with it’s staggering 29 to 52 of capacity making it a more reliable choice for bus company. Now, this model consist of only one story and is a single decker bus like most bus are but with the exception of some of the variant having 2 doors at the front. This bus was the first bus transporting the Lynx Band but later became a public transport bus. With the use of a step intrance to get in. The last time they we’re used was until March 2010 we’re it got discontinued and left as a relic of the past. They started to replace them in the early 2000 with newer model. The model was originally designed in the UK.

Engine

There is quite a few types of engines used for the bus depending on the model such as the Leyland TL11, Gardner 6HLXCT, Cummins L10 and the Volvo THD102KF, on the 1060 produced, around 140 had the Volvo engine included in them.

The predecessor of this bus was the Leyland National and it’s successor was the Volvo B10B with the swap of Leyland to Volvo bus.

Transmission/Gearbox

The first concept of the transmission was meant to be a Leyland Hydracyclic semi-automatic but was later changed to be a ZF Ecomat automatic.

Dimension

With a length of 11 meters in length going up to 12 meters on some variants with 2.5 meters of width and a height of 3.2 meters.

Production time

Like mentioned before, this bus was meant to start production in 1986 but got slight delay before entering production and production stopped in 1992 after the introduction of Volvo.
