I remember the game having significantly higher players counts in late 2022 and early 2023, so i would disagree

according to rolimons cc2s playercount has been pretty consistent but it has slowly dwindled over time excluding huge updates

during the early 2020s cc2s playercount was above 5k pretty consistently while nowadays it barely even hits above 4k on average

Maybe we are comparing it to way bigger games too much, i think for what it is CC2 is doing really well
