Am I nuts for thinking this?

I really don’t like a lot of the super raspy and screamy modded exhausts that the internet likes to glaze (ex. the gintani SVJ, gintani 812 superfast, gintani whatever, modded 992 gt3)

I think it sounds cool the first time but it really feels like these modded exhausts all sound the same, honestly. Especially now that I’ve been living in a city where people really like to mod their chargers, camaros, and challengers to give them a raspy metallic sound. Like fart cans if that makes sense

I think the main thing that makes these exhausts sound shit to me is that they’re all screamy and don’t have any bass (at least over video) and that makes them sound kinda one-note and empty.

I really like the more bassy and deeper sounding engines personally, where the internet seems to disagree with letting the exhausts stay stock (Lotus Emira, 992 Turbo S, Every stock Lamborghini, the stock F12/812/12Cilindri). Bass makes a car sound more powerful, and I think the tin can sounding gintani exhaust craze that the internet is high on is kinda annoying to me.

Although, I do like cosworth’s screamy engines, because those don’t sound as manufactured as custom exhausts do

you’re not alone, that’s the same reason why I like the Sauber C9 over the Mazda 787B

not the only one tbh
that’s why i like the sound of the v12s in aston martins (especially the dbr9) + the tvr cerbera speed 12

Same, the only engine that should sound raspy are some V6s and V8s imo, everything else sounds kind of bland (there are some exceptions but I’m not sure what they are right now)

Some don’t even sound good too (so it is basically noise pollution)

100% agree with you. I personally think a shitbox bouncing off the rev limiter sounds better than a load of sports/supercars purely because of the noise level. And a lot of straight pipe exhausts arguably sound absolutely horrible imo

British brands tend to be a bit more discreet like that. No ridiculously loud shitty sounding straight pipes, just exhausts that sound like they should

Yeah it’s like they’ve got a bomb in them

I love the bass in car sounds (also why I enjoy the sound of of Harleys for example)
