A quick guide on how to solidify models, cc2 style (sort of)

so yeah, i decided to give a quick tutorial on how to solidify your model if it’s just one-sided for cc2 if anyone cares

firstly, you need a model to solidify, preferably one that looks like cc2 (with the main body not being smooth shaded, the rest of the parts separated for coloring, the mirror modifier still applied on the parts, etc etc)
i’m not going to dig into this too much, but all you need to have is your model with the outside faces classified as inwards
you can see it with the face orientation checkbox here

if done right your model should look like this

ok onto the actual solidification, personally I start by choosing every somewhat straight edge on the windshield edge here then press E+Z
For the thickness of the solidification I’d say about this much should be your thickness of the parts as it’s mostly accurate to what the panels are in cc2

For simplification and to save on tris you should simplify the inside (got this tip from totemoyoi) rather than attempt to make a one to one recreation of the outside
for example this

could be simplified to this

Personally I just choose every second edge on the model then press E+ (which axis makes it go inwards x or y) like this then fill in the blanks

so yeah, you just do that until your entire model is blue and can’t see any more red for each part
I’ll probably update this with more info later but this is all you need to know

in that case knowing that i probably don’t have to waste loads of time on how good it looks that’ll probably save me loads of time in terms of solidification

Mostly it’s just reducing triangles?
